African Perspectives – Economic development in the context of climate change

Climate change epitomizes the complexity of the development challenge in a globalizing but still highly unequal world. It magnifies growing concerns about food security, water scarcity, and energy security. Its recognition is owed to modern science, yet solutions involve deeply ethical considerations.

Caroline Kende-Robb, APP Executive Director, speaks on economic development in the context of climate change during roundtable along with Trevor Manuel, Minister in the Presidency in charge of the National Planning Commission and others.

The roundtable discussion was broadcast on CNBC Africa as part of a television series in the run-up to the UN Conference on Climate Change (COP17/CMP7) in Durban.
