The two-day summit has produced bold and practical commitments for a fairer, more transparent tax system, but more work is needed on beneficial ownership, the Panel says.
GENEVA, June 18, 2013 – The Africa Progress Panel welcomed a G8 communiqué on Tuesday, which set out a list of practical actions to be taken to crack down on tax evasion and avoidance, but expressed reservations that more work remains to be done on the issue of beneficial ownership.
The Africa Progress Panel (APP) consists of 10 distinguished individuals from the private and public sectors who advocate for shared responsibility between African leaders and their international partners to promote equitable and sustainable development for Africa. Mr Kofi Annan chairs the APP and is closely involved in its day-to-day work.
